Family life in Bakhmut.
Sonja (9) lives with her family in the heavily contested city of Bakhmut. The house where the family lives was hit by a Russian missile. „I’m not afraid,“ says Sonja while artillery fire can be heard in the background. Frontline Evacuation
Ukrainian army soldiers evacuate Valentina (81) from a village near the frontline at Slatyne. Cluster munitions hit the town two days ago, the fragments hit Oleg and his wife Larissa as they stand in their garden. Neighbors find the seriously injured, army medics take them to the hospital. Oleg dies from his severe injuries on the way, Larissa is still fighting for her life. Only later do neighbors find Larissa’s mother Valentina trapped in the house by rubble. Because of the ongoing bombardment, the frail woman cannot be brought out, the way out of town is too dangerous – Slatyne, Ukraine, July 14, 2022.
